Billy Dean Funk, known to many as “DOLLAR BILL,” age 74, of Potosi, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1952, in Lancaster, the son of William S. and Rae Ann (Williams) Funk. Billy attended Pleasant Valley Country School, Lancaster Schools and Milwaukee Schools. He entered the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge. Following his military service, Billy worked at a hardware store, operated a small engine repair business and retired from a printing company in the Milwaukee area. In 2005, Billy moved to Potosi where he worked at the Bloomington Sale Barn. It was there that he met Pam Kirschbaum. He volunteered his time with the Berg-Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276, where he served as the Caplin and was the caretaker for St. Thomas Cemetery. Billy was a jack of all trades and enjoyed fishing, rummage sales and antiquing. He dearly loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Billy will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his special partner, Pam Kirschbaum; his son, Billy McCarthy; his granddaughter, Brynn Poppy; his sisters: Diana (Donald) Siggelkow and Vicky Shesler; brother-in-law, Ted Cefalu; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his siblings: Lori Cefalu, Ricky Funk and Timothy Funk.
Memorial services with military honors will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Uppena-Kroepfle American Legion Post No. 473 and the Berg-Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276.
