Billy Knapp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holman-Howe Funeral Homes Lebanon on May 28, 2025.
Billy Dale Knapp was born in Sleeper, Missouri on August 27, 1936 to Woodrow and Eva Decker Knapp. He passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 in Nixa Nursing and Rehab in Nixa, Missouri. He was eighty-eight years, eight months and twenty-nine days.
Billy lived his entire life in the Lebanon area and gave his heart to Jesus at a young age. He loved God with all his heart and followed the Lord's will by answering the call to the ministry.
On August 29, 1956, Billy was united in marriage to Sharlene Mathews and together they shared many wonderful memories while raising their three boys. Sharlene passed away in 2008. On Valentine's Day in 2016, Billy married Betty Waterman.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Eva Knapp; his wife, Scharlene; and two brothers, Rev. Bob Knapp and Don Knapp; and his daughter-in-law, Shelly Knapp.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Knapp; three sons, Randy Knapp and his wife Carrie of Long Lane, Missouri, Rodney Knapp of Pierce City, Missouri and Reggie Knapp of Lebanon, Missouri; his sister, Joyce Hicks and her husband James of Lebanon, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Lois Knapp of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Adam and his wife Heidi, Kristin Prock and her husband Cody, Matthew Knapp, Brooke Knapp, Jake Knapp and Peyton Knapp; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Natalie and Hannah Prock and Emma Knapp; his church family and many other friends and relatives.
Billy worked as a bi-vocational pastor. He drove a truck and was a school bus driver and served as pastor at Freewill Baptist Churches in Lebanon, Conway, Buffalo, and Cedar Ridge. He most recently pastored the Dallas County Community Church. He was very faithful and his ministry spanned forty years.
He loved making his home on the farm in Long Lane and spending time with his grandchildren. Billy loved his family and his church family very much. He was a caring and trusted neighbor and friend. Billy was a good, honorable man who loved and trusted God and was a hard worker at everything he did. His passing is sad for his family and friends, but rejoices in his homecoming where he is with his Savior, his wife, Scharlene, his parents, and other family members.
