Billy James Moore, 76, of the Meadow Fork community in Hot Springs, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, just after 2 p.m., with his beloved wife and sons by his side.
Born on April 30, 1949, in the Meadow Fork community of Hot Springs, NC, Billy lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he met the love of his life, Anh Thi Moore. He helped bring her to the United States, and together they shared 56 years of marriage built on deep devotion and enduring love.
Though he rarely spoke of his time in the military, Billy carried a lifelong burden from his service but never wavered in his faith. His true legacy was not defined by combat, but by the peace and hope he gave to others. A man of deep Christian faith, Billy was known throughout his community as someone you could turn to in your hardest moments - a steady friend, a spiritual encourager, and a man who prayed with quiet conviction.
He is survived by his wife, Anh Thi Moore; his sons, Toni Moore (Janice) and Scott Moore (Candida); four grandchildren: Thia, Sarah, Megan (Logan), and Tyler; two great-grandsons, James and Paul. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and neighbors whose lives were touched by his gentle presence.
A funeral service will be held at Madison Funeral Home in Marshall, NC, on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 2 pm. Burial to follow at the Meadow Fork Cemetery in Hot Springs with the North Carolina Army National Guard and American Legion providing military honors. The family will receive friends from 12 pm-2 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Billy will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his quiet courage, and the deep love he poured into his family and community.
