Billy Proffitt, Sr. Obituary
Billy Eugene Proffitt, Sr., 86, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
A native of Yancey County, Billy was born November 5, 1936 to the late Porter Proffitt and Delphia Austin Proffitt. His brother, Archie “Uncle Bud” Proffitt, also precedes him in death.
He worked for many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed cutting timber and working with dairy cows.
He is survived by his wife, Jerline Norton Proffitt; two sons, Billy Proffitt, Jr. (Tiffany) and Frank Proffitt (Mindy); six grandchildren, Travis Proffitt, Stephanie Proffitt, Brittany Proffitt, Sarah Proffitt, Rielan Proffitt, and Maesynn Proffitt; three great grandchildren, Corbin, Caspian, and Javaya; and his sisters, Wilma, Faye, and Betty.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Richard Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
