Billy "Bill" Ray Thornton was born August 22, 1959 in Lucas, KS to Leland and Norene (Schloh) Thornton. He departed this life on January 22, 2023, in Osborne, KS.
Bill attended school in the Osborne School System graduating in 1977. Bill started working at Coast to Coast for Marvin and Francis Leadabrand in 1973 through the school work study program. He continued working there until the store closed in 2014. Bill then worked at Osborne Industries where he was employed until his death.
Bill enjoyed attending his nieces and nephews activities, whether it be a ballgame or a school program. He loved going on road trips especially Black Friday Shopping. He also truly loved his fishing trips to Canada. Bill enjoyed playing bingo and gambling. He never missed a meal or watching a Jayhawk basketball game.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Norene, brother Keith, nephew Trevor and grandparents Lucy and Leonard Thornton and Wilda and Albert Schloh.
He is survived by his brothers Lynn – wife Jacque, Allen – wife Karen, sister Vickie Hopson – husband Dale and sister in law Brenda. Nieces Jann, Megan – husband Brady, Tessa – husband Phil, Hannah – husband Mark and niece in law – Keri. Nephews Tim, Russell – wife Rikki, Brandon – wife Paige, Chris – wife Misty, Lance and Duncan – wife Kayla. Great nieces and nephews Courtney, Gracie, Destiny, Hailee, Kandita, Taylor, Cambri, Kenley, Avari, Andrew, Zach, Tyrell, Braydon, Tyler, Jorden, Reid, Tucker and Elijah. Great-greats Arabella, Ellodi and Waylynn.
