Allan Langen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Browning Funeral Home - Evansville on Oct. 8, 2025.
Allan Thomas Langen, 91, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at North River Health Campus.
Allan was born in Springfield, Ohio on September 19, 1934 to the late Ralph and Bessie (Bayliss) Langen. He graduated from Springfield Catholic Central High School and the University of Dayton and honorably served in the US Army in the Territory of Alaska. Allan worked at Sears for 34 years and went on to work at Tri-State Bearing for another 18 years, retiring in 2010. Allan had a deep passion for developing the youth in his life. He was a dedicated Boy Scout leader and served as the scout master of the Holy Redeemer Troop 327 for many years. Allan was awarded two of the highest accolades in all of scouting, the Silver Buffalo and the Silver Beaver. One of his scouting highlights was attending the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Allan was able to travel across all of North America alongside his wife, Sue and his family. They visited all fifty states and made countless trips to National and State Parks. He also enjoyed backpacking, camping, and being in nature. He was able to walk a third of the Appalachian Trail and was an avid bird watcher. In his fifties, Allan caught the bug for competitive running. He ran in countless 5k's, half-marathons and other distances, completing his final race at the age of 79. Allan was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, was the proud recipient of the Bruté Award for a lifetime of service to his faith and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Allan was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Allan is survived by his children, Tom Langen (Esther Oey), Kimberly Austill (Dennis), Ralph L. Langen (Laura), Nick Langen (Sharon), Patrick J. Langen (Kimberly D. LaMar), Valerie Cissna (Chad) and John Langen (Katie Nunn); grandchildren, Galen, Guadalupe, Diego, Audrey (Cameron), Emily (Blake), Haley, Autumn (Kyle), Chris (Ali), Kayla (Mitch), Evan, Cera (James) and Drew; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Langen; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Norm), Sharon, Vickie and Jackie; brother-in-law, Don; and by many nieces and nephews.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I worked for Mr. Langen at Sears in the Customer Service Convenience Center, for many years during and after my college years, starting in 1980. He was the Greatest Manager to work for, and he taught me business/people skills that I have used my whole life. He was the best! May he RIP. Jim Hendrickson

So very sorry for your loss. Worked for many years with Al at Sears and learned that he was a top notch person and employee! Even after retirement, it was great to be with him at the monthly retiree luncheons.
So sorry I can't make the visitation in person but please know he will be missed.
