Mr. Billy Joe Wade, 91, of LaGrange, GA, passed away on August 21, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand in LaGrange. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Billy Joe was born on August 18, 1934, in Heflin, AL, the son of the late Wiley Joseph and Maggie Cavender Wade. He worked in the maintenance department for Miliken. His most cherished times were when he was spending time with his family. He was a devoted and loving husband for 67 years. He loved to travel, especially to the mountains, or enjoy a cup of coffee on a balcony at the beach. He was faithful to the Lord, which extended into his family through weekly phone calls and nightly prayers, always reminding them that he called each one by name.

He was so loving and never wanted family disagreements, always advocating forgiveness and acceptance no matter what. He will be remembered as the patriarch who loved family reunions, telling old stories, sharing laughter, giving a firm handshake, making the kids laugh by flexing his false teeth, encouraging others through their struggles, and finding joy in his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joey Wade; son-in-law, Mike Rosamond; father- and mother-in-law, Alfred and Lillie Reese; and his siblings, Essie Mae Wade, William Wade, Lurley Mae Wade, Lucile Wade, Ruth Steadman (Joe), Ruby Stowe (Wallace), Jack Wade (Flo), Howard Wade (Elvie), Duke Wade (Inez), and Dot Davis (Larry).

He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Wade; daughter, Julie Rosamond; grandchildren, Monica Horne, Jamie Friend (Mike), Steven Rosamond (Amber), Jody Wade (Destine), and Renee Duran (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Cortney Tedescucci (Coy), Britney Rogers, Summer Horne, Brayson Friend, Brent Friend, Maddison Rosamond, Garrett Bolin, Gage Bolin, Zach Fambro, Wesley Dusenburg, Jesse Wade, Logan Lingerfelt, Mason Griffin, Joey Wade, Bonnie Duran, Lilly Duran, Brayden Duran, and Bella Duran; and one great-great-grandson on the way. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Janie Matheny (Doyle) and Barbara Roberts (Bill).

The family will be accepting visitors at his daughter Julie's home at 1601 Upper Glass Bridge Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the youth group of Teaver Road Baptist Church.
