Billy "Bill" Wayne Wagnon
March 25, 1935 - July 16, 2022
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Bill on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
He was in the care of Life Care Center of Colorado Springs and Compassus Hospice who provided him with compassionate and professional care over the course of his final days.
Bill was born in Lubbock, Texas on March 25, 1935. He was raised on a small farm outside of Muleshoe, Texas. Bill attended elementary, middle, and high school in Muleshoe. He graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1953 and attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Bill was a member of the Aggie Corp of Cadets and graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry.
Bill did serve in the United States Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Captain. His career was spent as an Agricultural Equipment and Chemical Sales Professional with several companies. In the 1980's, Bill left the road as a traveling salesman and worked locally for McConnells True Value Hardware and Chrissy Fowler Lumber.
Bill loved the sport of basketball and actively played the game well into his seventies. After leaving the road as a traveling salesman, he became involved in volunteer coaching for the Boys and Girls Basketball Programs at both Coronado and Doherty High Schools in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill was known to the coaches and students he assisted as "Wags" or "Coach Wagnon". He would remain activley involved in volunteer coaching for over thirty-five years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lynn Wagnon of Colorado; sons, Michael (Diana) of Texas, Brad (Astrid) of South Dakota, and Eric of Colorado; his two grandchildren, David (Bridget), and Alejandra both of Texas. He is also survived by his brother, B.H.; and sister, Rhonda Pummill, both of Texas.
Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Thursday, August 18, 2022, Calvary United Methodist Church, 4210 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the Wagnon family asks that any donations in Bill's memory be made to Eastern Plains Community Pantry, 701 4th Street, Calhan, Colorado 80808.
