Billy "Bill" Allison Watkins, 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed from this life into eternal life on March 17, 2025 due after a courageous 4-month battle of Epithelioid Angiosarcoma.
He was born on February 27, 1943, in Red Oak, OK to Raymond and Jewell (Hilburn) Watkins. Bill was the oldest of four children; his sisters Linda and Nelda, and his brother Eddie. He graduated from Crooked Oak High School in 1960 where he met Judy Deaton. Bill was saved at the age of 18 years old and tried to live his life according to the word of God. He loved serving the Lord and fellowshipping with other believers at Grace Place Baptist Church for the last 26 years. In most prayers, which he led, he was known to thank God for the gift of His son Jesus Christ who shed His blood for our sins, died on the cross and rose again. Bill and Judy were married on July 19, 1963. They had two children, Lesa and Brian. He graduated in 1975 with a B.S. in Business Administration and in 1980 with his M.B.A both from Central State University. In 1987 he completed Command and General Staff College.
His work life included multiple positions, worked concurrently, ranging from 3 years U.S. Army active duty, 28 years as a U.S Army Reserve Officer retiring as Colonel for the State of Oklahoma as an Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer (EPLO) for Headquarters 5th U.S. Army; 41 years federal service retiring as the Deputy Commander, Defense Logistics Agency, DDOO, Tinker A.F.B., Oklahoma; 36 years volunteering with Tinker Federal Credit Union, retiring as the Chairman of the Board of Directors; 25 years operating his own property management company and served multiple terms on the Grace Place Baptist Leadership Team.
Bill loved to play golf, golf and even more golf! He was also a regular pickleball player even in his eighties. He enjoyed cars of any type, and regularly participated and placed in numerous car shows over the years. A good day for him was when he came home from working all day and into the evening, but had a long list of completed tasks marked off his "to do" list. No one could work harder than him. He was known for his ability to be firm, fair and compassionate, regardless of your title, rank or position.
Bill is preceded in death by his father Raymond Watkins, mother Jewell (Hilburn) Watkins, his sister Linda Sweet and her husband Bob, and his brother Eddie Watkins.
He is survived by his wife Judy of the home, his daughter Lesa Carter and her husband Todd of Oklahoma City, OK and granddaughter Riley of Oklahoma City, OK, his son Brian Watkins and his wife Trena of Oklahoma City, OK and their 3 children, grandson Caleb Watkins and his wife Elizabeth of Mustang, OK, granddaughter Sydney Watkins of Oklahoma City, OK and grandson Conner Watkins of Oklahoma City, OK, his sister Nelda Reicks and her husband John of Centerton, AR and his sister-in-law Rhonda Watkins of Choctaw, OK, and very special sisters-in law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
