Billy “Joe” Willey Jr., 65, of Jumping Branch entered into eternal rest Monday, August 19, 2024 following a sudden cardiac event.
Born July 7, 1959 at Hinton he was a son of Billy Joe Willey Sr. of Hinton and the late Geneva Mae Wiseman Willey.
Joe was an active member of Jumping Branch Tabernacle. He retired from Kroger Corporation with 44 years of service. Joe was a former youth basketball and football coach and a mentor to the children of the community whom he accepted as his own. Joe was also a former member of the Jumping Branch Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department. He was a “jack of all trades”, an avid hunter and outdoorsman who loved gardening, woodworking and spending time with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Cathy Thompson Willey.
Besides his father, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 8 years, Kimberly Willey; children, Paige Willey Bowers and husband Liam of Stanardsville, VA, Todd Willey and wife Emily of Lexington, VA, Ashley Weiss and fiancé Shawn Snuffer of Oak Hill and Andrew Weiss of Jumping Branch; three grandchildren, Tucker and Maggie Bowers and Henry Willey; two brothers, Randy Willey and Danny Willey and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Tom and Dalene Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Meador-Charlton Family Cemetery at Madams Creek. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
