Prof (Dr) Bir Singh Nigam, 69, passed away on October 22, 2024 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Born January 15, 1955 in India, to the late Dilwa and Indira Devi, he grew up in Kakrana (Dhaulana) village before moving to Delhi for higher education and studied Information and Library Science, obtaining his PhD. He retired from Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism (Bhopal) as Director in 2020 after devoting 30+ years of touching many lives as a Teacher, Mentor and a friend to many.
He will be fondly remembered for being young and energetic forever and always lived his life on his terms and breaking the orthodox religious practices. Coming out from the village and achieving excellence in his field of work was his biggest achievement and inspired many like his son to follow the path and go for higher studies in the US. He never really retired after such a long journey as Professor and was always looking to give more back to his students and in his social circle. Prof Nigam was a true mentor, friend and someone you could always count on.
Bir Singh was a proud family man, they truly meant the world to him. He loved nature and enjoyed working around the plants. Always had great plans and vision to start many business ventures. His energy and ability to adopt every age group was absolutely phenomenal.
Loving husband of Praveen Nigam for 42 years, beloved father of Victor Nigam and Portia Nigam, father in law to Shweta Rani and Ishan Raina, grandfather of Aaryan, Aaryav and Ivaan. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
