Marcus was born on December 11, 1973, to the late Carlton Campbell and Belinda Campbell.  He was such a blessing to this union. Due to life’s circumstances, Marcus’s grandmother, Mary Louise McDonald raised him and did an amazing job doing so.

Marcus was educated in the Metro Davidson County School System and graduated from McGavock High School in 1992. There he did well in academics, wrestling, and football. From there he received a full scholarship to Austin Peay University to play football. He made many friends there and although he didn’t graduate from there, he made a difference in so many lives.

Upon leaving Austin Peay, Marcus began living the different facets of his life. He was searching for something that he was unable to find until he found God. Although it may sound cliché, this is a true statement about Marcus.

He would let everyone know that when God got a hold of him that his entire life was changed. He began to tell anyone that would listen just how God changed his life and how great God is.

Marcus loved to hear good preaching and always talked about how Pastor Frank Ray, Pastor Frank Stevenson, Pastor Breonus Mitchell, and Bishop Sandy McClain rightly divided The Word.

Marcus became a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. After accepting the call to preach the Gospel, he received his license in May of 1998 and was later ordained under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert J. Pillow and was later blessed to be under the pastorate of Bishop Sandy McClain.

Bishop Campbell was called to lead the flock at The Church at Mt. Carmel in March of 2006 and was installed in April of 2006. He was also called to lead the flock at Second Missionary Baptist Church Ashland City in October 2019 and was installed in January of 2020. On July 11, 2015, Bishop Marcus A. Campbell was consecrated as Bishop in the sight of God and this congregation. He served as the National Bishop of Evangelism and Outreach as well as the TN State Bishop for Leaders For Change Christian Fellowship. He also launched Grace and Glory Ministries in 2018. Bishop Campbell is known for his humbleness, his work in the community, and his work with various organizations such as; The Fountain of Life Ministries Inc., Gentlemen And Not Gangsters (G.A.N.G.), Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.), J.E.W.E.L.S., Partners In The Struggle, C.A.G., Juvenile Court, the West Nashville Baptist District Association, Mayor John Cooper, State Bishop for Leaders For Change Christian Fellowship, and served on the Board of Commissioners of MDHA.

Bishop Campbell was the Pastor of The Church at Mount Carmel for over eighteen years, and the Pastor of Second Baptist Church – Ashland City for over three years.

Bishop was such a blessing to many as he believed that he was created to serve. He started a summer camp that he and his wife carried out for years. With the help of donations from the community, the United For Our Youth Summer Enrichment Camp has been able to serve over two hundred youth each summer.  Bishop was also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Gentlemen And Not Gangsters Youth Diversion Mentoring Program which has shown it’s success through the young men and young women that have been overcomers. Because of this program, The GRIP Team at juvenile court in Nashville, TN received an award. G.A.N.G. was the first program in the USA to have a juvenile gang court as well.

Not only did Bishop do the prior things but he also made Thanksgiving and Christmas happen for everyone. By the help of donors like Chuck McDowell, BOMA, TBI, Frank Turner, and Kurt Koehn to name just a few, many families were blessed beyond measure.

Bishop Campbell was proceeded in death by his father, Carlton Campbell, His Maternal Grandparents James and Mary Louise McDonald, His Paternal Grandparents Bernard and Cora Campbell, Great Grandmother Beulah Johnson, Uncle James Curtis, Uncle George McDonald, Uncle Bernard Campbell.

Stacy and Malachi: We are extremely saddened by your loss, Marcus was a remarkable man which we know made you and your family so proud and thankful for, and although we did not get to meet him personally, we would see him at the PC games with you helping and all could see your hearts for service.
