B.J. Boroughs, 90, of Cabot, Arkansas, died on December 1, 2024. He was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to William (Willie) Boroughs and Velma Kyzer-Boroughs and grew up in Jacksonville, Arkansas. B.J. spent his career as a builder and developer in the Jacksonville-Cabot area. He was arguably the greatest dad ever as he fostered a love for family and loved family time together. He remained faithfully married to the love of his life Shirley for 66 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, antiquing, and fixing things. He was ordained a Deacon at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville and continued his service at First Baptist Church of Cabot.
B.J. was preceded in death by his father, Willie Boroughs, his mother, Velma Boroughs, brother Lawrence Boroughs, and brother Harold Boroughs. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Boroughs; daughter, Tammy Tompkins and her husband Tommy, son Brian Boroughs and his wife Melissa; grandchildren: Tori Harrison and husband Tim, Trent Tompkins and wife Chelsea, Tatum Tarvin and husband Grant, Morgan Boroughs and Molly Boroughs; great grandchildren: Brandt Harrison, Rhett Harrison, Laura Tompkins, Owen Tompkins, Daniel Tarvin, Stetson Tarvin, and Jed Tarvin; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A visitation will be held Friday December 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. and a service following at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 204 N. 3rd Street, Cabot, AR 72023. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at a later date. Arrangements provided by Smith Funeral Home, North Little Rock 501-758-1170. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in BJ’s Memory to First Baptist Church Missions.
