Karen Ruth Beardsley Boroughs, 73, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 6, 2025.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Southwest Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Karen was born January 13, 1952, in Big Spring, TX. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1970. Karen later earned an associate’s degree as well as a certificate in phlebotomy. She met and later married Daryle Lee Boroughs on June 19, 1970.
She worked with troubled youth for 40 + years, starting as a dorm parent at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch then spent many years at Potter County as a juvenile detention officer finishing her career at Randall County until she retired. After that her time was spent chasing Lee kids and grandkids. Her greatest passion was quilting and making quilts to give to her friends and family. She was married to a veteran and has a son who is a veteran and is very proud of their service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Daryle Lee Boroughs; mother, Bobbie Ruth Burris Beardsley Brooks; father, Raymond Lloyd Beardsley; sister, Susan Kay Winn; and brothers, Warren Ray Beardsley and Lawrence Jay Beardsley.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Bridget Boroughs Taylor and husband Jared of Pampa, TX; son, Brian Boroughs and wife Ginger of Amarillo, TX; grandkids, Kaylee Grace Taylor, Tripper Frank Taylor and fiancée Kaylee, Chesney Lynn Taylor, Brandon Aaron Boroughs, Chelsy Lamarr, and Cullin Alexander; great-grandkids, Emilia Alexander, Krixus Ruiz, Gracelynn Lamarr, and Nevan Lamarr.
