Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors - AmarilloJohn Andrew “Andy” Boggs, 94, of Amarillo, TX passed away on Friday March 27, 2026.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-6 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Andy was born at home on May 30, 1931, in Swisher County, TX to Roma Andrew Boggs and Myrtle Lora Springer. He graduated from Kress High School in 1948.
He married Arlene Costille Brian Boggs on September 6, 1949, and began his career in local government, as the Tax Assessor and Collector for the Kress Independent School District, City Secretary for the newly organized City of Kress, City Manager for the City of Canyon and Tax Assessor & Collector for the City of Odessa. He then moved into personal business as manager of a farm supply business. For the next twenty years he was associated with the legal profession, as an investigator for Plaintiff Law Firms in Austin Texas. He then owned a company which provided information to employers concerning background checks on employees and tenants. Upon his retirement he moved back to the family farm at Kress, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers Jack Boggs and Bill Boggs; a grandchild, Summer Boggs, and a great grandchild William Baxter.
Andy is survived by his son Greg Boggs and wife Iwana of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Tasha Baxter, and husband Lance of Sweetwater, Taryn Gardner, and husband Cole of Amarillo; three great grandchildren, Laney, Brodey and Mackey Baxter.
