Ray Crump

Ray Crump was born on December 5, 1964-a snowy day his mother never let him forget and loved to tease him about for years. He passed peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Amarillo, surrounded by his family.

Ray was known for his big personality-loud, talkative, and full of life. He had a presence that filled every room, and you always knew when Ray was around. He loved to visit, tell stories, and make people laugh, and his voice and energy will be deeply missed.

Above everything, Ray was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Mike and Chris. He loved nothing more than watching them play sports for the Clarendon Broncos. Whether cheering from the stands or talking about the game afterward, Ray was their biggest fan-passionate, supportive, and always present.

Ray also had a deep love for the cowboy way of life. He spent many years working on ranches and in feed yards across Clarendon and the surrounding areas. One of his greatest passions was roping, and he cherished the time spent doing what he loved most, surrounded by good people and open country.

He was a deeply caring and dedicated husband to his wife, Michael Elizabeth Crump. When she began to lose the ability to care for herself, Ray stepped in without hesitation, becoming her caregiver. He showed unwavering patience, compassion, and love during that time, living out what it truly means to stand by someone through all of life's challenges.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Morris Crump; his brother, Randy Crump; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Michael Elizabeth Crump of Pampa; his mother, Janie Gibson of Clarendon; his stepmother, Linda Crump of Clarendon; his sister, Laura and husband Jason of Amarillo, and their children, Avery and Ethan; his son, Chris Crump of Turkey, his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Keighen, Asher, Carter, and Addie; his son, Mike Crump of Hedley, his wife, Julie, and their children, Kyndall, Waverley, and Rankin; his sister-in-law, Buckie Crump of Clarendon; his stepbrothers, Elwyn and wife Pam of Hedley, Wyman and wife Shonda of Amarillo, and Willie and wife Holly of Memphis; and his step-grandchildren Madalyn and Nolan Phillips of Singer.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ray will be remembered for his big heart, his strong voice, his love for his family, and the life he built doing what he loved. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family he loved so fiercely.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2026 in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Josey Shadle, officiating.
