Blair Fillmore
LAWRENCE-Blair J. Fillmore, age 73, passed away at Castleview Hospital on June 11, 2025 surrounded by family. Blair was born December 16, 1951 in
Price, Utah.
He was raised and spent his life raising his own family in Lawrence, Utah. He was the son of Norman James and Reva Lucille Allen Fillmore. Their family homesteaded farms in Lawrence and Joe's Valley. When Blair and his twin brother Blaine were not up to mischief they spent their youth tending sheep up Joe's Valley during the summer, then running cattle and working the farm the rest of the time. Blair alongside his father, mother, and siblings learned daily from hardworking lessons. These were the lessons he valued and used throughout his life.
Blair graduated Emery High School, going on to earn his Associate Degree from The University of Utah. During college Blair worked odd jobs here and there. A favorite was running the kiln at a pottery shop, giving him opportunities to experiment in his free time. Blair continued to experiment and learn during his life from projects like building, wiring, and plumbing his own home, shop, sprinkler systems, and entire electrical systems. If he wanted or needed something done, no matter the task or challenges, he always found a way.
Blair met and fell in love with MaryAnn Young in 1975, and they were married shortly after. together they built a home, welcomed two children, and lived happily on the family farm. Blair worked as a mechanic in the coal mines. After an accident that took his eye, he later went on to earn his A.C.E. Auto Mechanics Degree. MaryAnn worked at the hospital as she earned her degree as a Respiratory Therapist. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and rescuing whatever animals that Teresa and Jacob would drag home. As midlife approached, a silver lining came as they welcomed what was supposed to be a bouncing baby girl; with what was actually their 100% little boy Brandon, who brought new joy and a sparkle to Blair's eye.
After losing MaryAnn in 2008, Blair continued to work at the coal mines while raising the kids with help from Blaine, Cindy, and all the older kids within the family. After retirement he spent most of his time up at Joe's Valley running cows with his children. All while going for buggy rides and causing a little trouble. At home he heartily cheered on the Jazz from his favorite chair. He was later able to move in with his most precious daughter and earned his most important and prized degree of all.."PA." Blair fully enjoyed his four granddaughters and the chaos that always comes with that many girls. Always teasing, teaching, and sharing his french-fries, all while getting a makeover, making him the best "PA" ever. We will miss him more than words could ever say.
Blair is survived by one daughter and two sons, Teresa Hansen, Spring Glen, Jacob (Megan) Fillmore, Lawrence, Brandon (Shannia) Fillmore, White Water, CO; four granddaughters, Gracieann, Gentrie Jo, Maya Blair and Blake Terry; twin brother, Blaine (Cindy) Fillmore, Lawrence; brother and sister, Carl (Elizabeth) Fillmore, Lawrence, Sharon Chmieleski of Connecticut; many loving nieces and nephews.
Blair was preceded in death by his parents, wife, MaryAnn Fillmore; son-in-law, T.J. "Bob" Hansen; brothers, Dale and Roy Fillmore; and a nephew, Andrew Fillmore.
