Blake Courtney Alford

Blake C. Alford, aged 59, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born on September 6, 1966, in Monmouth County, NJ, Blake lived a life dedicated to his family, his work, and his passions.

Blake spent many years as a respected Superintendent for several esteemed golf courses, including The Wizard in Myrtle Beach, Meadow Woods in Orlando, FL, and Wyboo and Shannon Greens in Manning, SC. After retiring from his work on the greens, he pursued his passion for creating beautiful landscapes by starting his own landscaping business.

Blake found joy in outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and was an avid golfer. His love for the outdoors was rivaled only by his love for dogs and his unwavering commitment to family. Blake cherished coaching his son Dylan in baseball and golf, always putting family first and making himself available for gatherings and celebrations. An honest, genuine, caring man, Blake never spoke ill of anyone and brought a smile to many a face with his witty sense of humor.

Blake is preceded in death by his parents, Norman H. and Blanche Durrance Alford; his infant son, Taylor; and his brothers, Mark L. Alford and Gregory G. "Greg" Alford. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through his surviving family: his beloved son, Dylan Alford; and his sister, Catherine "Kitty" Alford Mason. His treasured nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, Christopher Alford and wife Jessica, and their children: Peyton Alford, Mason Alford, Leah Alford and Noah Alford, Emily Kampas and husband D.J. and their daughter, Isla Kampas, Chelsea Caprio and husband David, Erik Mason and wife Hailea and their son, Jasper Mason, and Heather-Dawn Linnens and husband Hunter-will carry forward his spirit. Also mourning his loss is his former wife, mother of his son, and friend, Tori Taylor.

Family and friends are invited to honor Blake's life at a memorial service held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 21, 2025, in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service as they celebrate the life of a man who touched the hearts of many.
