Adolf "Al" Rommel, Jr., a cherished husband and friend, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. Born on September 4, 1935, in New York, NY, Al lived a fulfilling 90 years marked by service, dedication, and kindness.
Following his graduation from high school, Al entered the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a production manager with Pan American Airways, where he dedicated 30 years before retiring. His work was characterized by diligence and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Al was known for his love of travel and music, passions that enriched his life and connected him with people from all walks of life. A kind and caring individual, Al volunteered with Pardee Hospital, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a generous soul who never had a harsh word for anything or anyone, embodying the virtues of compassion and understanding.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf Rommel, Sr. and Emilie Spath Rommel, and his first wife, Erica Rommel, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Dorothy Roberts Williams Rommel, and several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his gentle spirit and warm heart.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Al's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the Henderson County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
