Blake Anthony Zapletal Sr.

Blake Anthony Zapletal Sr., 62, passed away on March 14, 2023, in Carthage, MO. Born on August 2, 1960, in Ennis, TX, to Henry Zapletal and Betty Jane Zmolik Zapletal. Blake was a devoted Catholic and an active member of St Ann's Catholic Church. He was a Sixth Grade teacher at St. Ann's Catholic School and a former instructor in the Carthage R-9 AEL Program. Blake was a member of St. Ann's Knights of Columbus #9190 and a member of the Diocese of Springfield Cape Girardeau School Board. He was an avid reader and loved dogs.
Blake is survived by his three sons, Blake Jr., Thomas, and James Zapletal, all of Joplin, MO; his mother, Betty Jane Zapletal of Carthage; two brothers, Clay Zapletal (Cindy) of Manhattan, KS, and John Zapletal (Linda) of Oklahoma City, OK; and one sister, Bonnie Schaeffer (Michael) of Carthage. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Zapletal, and his nephew and godson, Michael Zapletal.
Funeral Mass will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Carthage, with the Holy Rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
