TROY Bliss C. Canfield, 58, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 11, 2025 while on a cruise with his loving wife, Laura by his side.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Frank and Rita Clickner Canfield. He was educated in Troy schools and received his associate's degree from HVCC. He worked for Rensselaer County as a database administrator for over 30 years and continued working with them part time following his retirement.
Bliss was extremely community oriented. He was an active member of the Waterford Knights of Columbus, Council #237 where he often volunteered his time and served in many roles, including past Grand Knight. He also held many leadership roles with the Cub Scouts and the Twin Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a past Cub Master of Pack 5, Scout Leader of Troop 537, and part of the "Order of the Arrow."
Bliss will be remembered for his big heart, generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruising, going camping with his family and boating on Sacandaga. He also was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh.
Bliss is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Laura Pavlovic Canfield; by his beloved son, Cameron Bliss Canfield and by his aunt, Peggy LaFrance. He is also survived by his cousins, extended family and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service.
