Boaz O. Olang

POUGHQUAG - Boaz O. Olang, 71, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Kenya on August 24, 1953, he was the son of the late Jekonia Olang Adhiambo and Christabel Olang Ogogo.
Boaz was known for his personal faith in his Savior Jesus Christ, his love for his wife, children and grandchildren. He had great passion to preach, teach, and encourage people. He had a deep passion for education, loved books having dedicated part of his late career to enriching the minds of students as a professor at Dutchess Community College. His journey in academics spanned decades, culminating in his well-deserved retirement in 2016. Many will remember him not only for his knowledge but for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support for his family, extended family and friends.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Jane Akinyi Olang, with whom he shared many memories and cherished moments. Boaz is also survived by his children, Evans Olang (Judy), Jimmy Olang (Jessica), Job Olang (Lindsay), Andrew Olang (Nancy), Kefa Olang (Sara), Linda Awando (Peter), and Geoffrey Olang (Kristina), and his grandchildren, Lucy, Logan, Leeland, Lincoln, Lilly, Ella, Precious, Devyn, Ava, Aiden, Kiara, Kitana, and Kaiya.
The calling hours will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by interment at Raymond Hill Cemetery.
