Funeral services for Bob Blackburn, age 83, of Gainesville, MO will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to service time. The family requests casual dress for all in attendance.
Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Born on September 8, 1941, to Flay and Dorothy Blackburn, Bob was the eldest of eight children.
Above all, Bob cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his only wife, Mary Alice Blackburn, as well as his brothers, Jim Blackburn and Jack Blackburn, and his sisters, Cindy Blackburn and Pat Blackburn.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A man of profound passions, Bob dedicated his life to sharing his love of history as a retired history teacher. His enthusiasm for the past was infectious. When he wasn't immersed in historical texts, Bob could be found casting a line, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of fishing with his family and friends. He knew every river and fishing hole in Ozark County.
Bob's legacy lives on through his children, Frankie Blackburn and Nicole Blackburn, and her husband, James Blackburn. He was a doting grandfather to Evie and Hunter Blackburn, whose laughter and presence brought him immeasurable happiness. He spent many hours attending all of their sporting events and cheering them on and told all that would listen, that given the chance to live 1000 lives, he would pick them every time to be his. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Snell, Linda Blackburn, and Nancy Blackburn.
Bob's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He passed away with his family by his side and surrounded by the warmth of their love. This will be a celebration of life for both Dad, and my mother, Mary Alice. They will be laid to rest together at Clear Spring Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Shriners Hospital.
