Bob Brown, Jr., 83, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025. A Transylvania County native, he was the son of the late Joe. B. Brown and Sarah Arrowwood Brown. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Brown.
A United States Army veteran, he served in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic from 1964 to 1966 after graduating from Brevard High School in 1961.
He worked for 43 years for Citizen Telephone in Brevard as a cable locator. After retiring, he continued to keep in touch with other retirees, whether through telephone calls or meeting them for lunch. He enjoyed spending time with his former work colleagues as well as his former BHS classmates.
He enjoyed the outdoors, having hunted and fished since his childhood and found both beauty and peace in the woods. He was an avid reader and writer of stories and poetry as well as an artist that worked with wood he found during his job as a cable locator.
He loved his family and extended family from North Carolina to South Carolina, from Michigan to Florida, from Texas to Illinois and from Virginia to Montana. But he especially loved his grandchildren and made sure to participate and celebrate in their birthdays, ball games, band concerts and other milestones in their lives. Bobby and Tori were extremely precious to him.
His loving survivors include his wife of 59 years, Gustina; their children Renee’ Brown and Wayne Brown (Kim); grandchildren Bobby and Tori; his sisters, Susie Landreth and Jean Cabe; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service to honor Bob Brown will be held at a later date.
