Bob Brown, 71, of Cumming, Georgia passed away September 22, 2022, surrounded by family and in the arms of his loving wife, Lydia. Bob made a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer for over two- and one-half years. Bob was born in Porterdale, Georgia to Charles W. (Bill) and Martha Sibyl McCarty Brown on September 5, 1951.
Bob grew up in Decatur and graduated from Colombia High School and West Georgia College. He became a skilled machinist like his father and worked for Capital City Machine Shop, Inc. as General Manager, after which he worked for Scientific Games for many years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lydia Brown, his children: Emilie Brown, Chris Williamson, and Todd Stalcup, grandchildren and his five sisters: Martha Wilson, Cynthia Rigsby, Charlotte Brown, Sharon Foster and Debbie Hayman. He was predeceased by his parents.
Bob is remembered by his sisters as a fantastic cook. His younger sisters said he was a little messy, but his cooking was worth their cleaning up after him. Bob enjoyed being outdoors and with his green thumb was able to grow many beautiful flowers and vegetables and keep an immaculate yard. One of his favorite activities was playing golf, which he enjoyed so much he would even play with a sister and her girlfriends. He was also a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. After their Hawaiian wedding 17 years ago, Bob and Lydia enjoyed relaxing on their boat with friends and going to the beach.
Bob was a quiet person who did not say much, but he had a great sense of humor. His wit would surface at family dinners with his one-liners that brought much laughter. He will be remembered as a good friend and a good person.
His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2022, at East Cobb Baptist Church, 1940 Shallowford Rd., Marietta, GA 30066. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Bob's memory to East Cobb Baptist Church.
