In Loving Memory of Karen Kyle
February 14, 1959 – September 11, 2025
Karen Kyle, 66, passed away, September 11th, 2025, with her daughter and husband by her side. Karen leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Stuart, and daughter Jennifer, son Adam, brother John. Karen was born in London, Ontario, Canada to parents Jim and Aileen West. Karen and her family moved to Toronto in 1966. During her formative years, some of Karen's favorite memories were of spending time at a family friend's cottage where she swam in the lake, and rescued frogs. Karen married Stuart in 1978 and raised their two children in Toronto.
Karen was a proud homemaker and a woman who could achieve anything she set her mind to. Karen was a nurse, vet, cook, gardener, painter, handyman decorator, and caregiver to all those she loved. She found beauty and enjoyment in all creatures whether fireflies in a meadow or toads hopping along the sidewalk to dogs she rescued, and her grand ducks located a few states away. This love for animals is a common thread throughout Karen's life.
In 1998, Karen and her family moved to Alpharetta, Georgia where she happily embraced the warm climate. Putting up Christmas lights and decorations in shorts and a t-shirt solidified Karen's love for the south. Karen made and cherished many dear friends in the Park Brooke, Lake Lanier and Churchill Crossing communities.
One memory that unites all who knew Karen was her love for her golden retrievers. (Xenia, Sally, Maggie, Lacey, Zoey and Huey). She also cherished their two toy poodles Ellie and P'Nut. One of Karen's greatest joys was spending days at Lake Lanier where she and the goldens would be in the water most days from May through October. When not in the water or out in the boat she would be in the gardens, maintaining her bird feeders or walking 3-5 miles, which certainly kept her fit.
In July 2024 Karen was diagnosed with a very advanced, rare and aggressive form of cancer. She bravely managed her treatment with a strength and grace that will always be remembered. She appreciated all the prayers and thoughts in her support. All that knew Karen will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Life for Karen will be held at the McDonald and Son Funeral Home, Cumming GA on Saturday October 25 for 1-3pm.
