Bob Habig

Mr. Robert "Bob" E. Habig a longtime resident of Port Jervis, NY died Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at home with his family by his side. He was 91.
He was born January 23, 1934 in Manhattan, NY the son of the late William Habig and the late Margaret Duffy Habig.
Robert married Eleanor "Ellie" Phillips on August 23, 1953 in Port Jervis, NY and they were married for 62 years prior to her passing on July 17, 2016.
He worked as an Architect at Habig & Cirillo in Middletown, NY which was formerly known as Habig and Weiboldt. Bob designed many construction projects during his career as an Architect.
Bob was a member of the Port Jervis Democratic Party and the Orange County Democratic Party. Bob was a Port Jervis Planning Board Member and a member and past President of the Port Jervis School Board.
A family statement read: Bob moved to Port Jervis with his family at the age of 14. In high school he played a number of sports successfully, but basketball was his favorite. He went to college in Farmingdale, Long Island where he received his associates degree. He continued to play and excel in basketball. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Ellie. They loved Port Jervis, made it their home and raised a family here. Bob was a respected member of the community. He believed in education, so he got involved serving on the school board to make a difference. Bob was a successful architect licensed in 13 states. He also designed a number of buildings locally. Because he loved architecture, he felt he never worked a day in his life. Bob was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor. He will be missed very much.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Huff and her husband Hank of Port Jervis, NY, son Jeffrey Habig and his wife Susan Lepse of Warwick, NY, grandson Taylor Huff of Troy, NY, granddaughters Sarah Huff of Albany, NY and Lauren Lepse-Habig of Warwick, NY, sister-in-law Jean Habig of N. Littlerock, Arkansas, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Arnold Habig and his sister, Marilyn Habig.
There will be no visitation, and funeral services will be held private at the convenience of the family.
