Robert William Mitchell, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on June 18, 2024, in Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster, SD. Born on June 5, 1947, to Merrill and Hilda Mitchell of Blunt, SD.
Bob was a graduate of Blunt High School and went on to pursue his passion for Rodeos and Racing Horses.
Bob married his beloved wife, Patti Sowards, in Philip, SD. Together, they raised four children: Ronnie, Dallas "Duck", Dusty, Bobbie Ann "Sissy". Bob was a devoted father, known for his presence at his children's sporting events and rodeos, and for the unforgettable family adventures.
Bob's hobbies were as rich and varied as his professional life. He was known as an avid Cowboy, a Horse Trainer, and all-around Rodeo Clown. His passion for the horses was more than a pastime; it was who he was.
Sadly, Bob was predeceased by his Parents, his Grandparents, and his Mother-in-law. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his ex-wife Patti; his children, Ronnie (Bane, Johnessa, Aries, Brynn), Dallas (Kaylee Ann), Dusty & Christen (Karen Ann, William, Theodore), and Bobbie Ann (Chyann); his five brothers and two sisters; and very special friends Johnny Holloway family (Eagle Butte, SD), John Gillis Family (Chamberlain, SD) and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm with a 7:00pm Wake service on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre, SD. A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 210 East Broadway Ave, Pierre, SD. Following the service, a reception will be held at the American Legion Center 520 South Pierre Street, Pierre, SD. Bob will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blunt, SD after the reception.
