Bob Snow

On Monday, July 18th, 2022, Bob Snow passed away, with his loving wife of 51 years, Roxann Snow, by his side. Robert Newcomb Snow was born October 14, 1947, in Brockton, MA to Joseph L. Snow Jr. and Glenny Mae (Winberg) Snow. Bob was a 1965 graduate of Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA. He attended Georgia Tech as part of a co-op with Boeing. This ultimately led to him moving permanently to Washington State and transferring to UW, where he received his Aerospace Engineering Degree.
As a navigational specialist for Boeing, Bob worked in many different areas from 1968-2011. In 1974 he joined the Air Force to pursue his dream of flying jets. Upon transferring back to Boeing, he worked in the field for many years, traveling around the country and world. He transitioned to the "Black Hole" in the 80's, where he worked on projects such as the Stealth Bomber. This unassuming and humble man received Engineer of the Year in 1980, and became an Associate Tech Fellow, due to the work he did at Boeing. He actively participated in the training of young engineers. He ended his career working on the 787 Dreamliner.
He met the love of his life, Roxann, who he married on October 16, 1970. They had two children, Brett and Desi. They bought a fixer upper on Vashon Island in 1979, which gave him plenty of projects that he continued to work on up until his passing. Rox and Bob created a home where countless kids were always excitedly welcomed, loved, and accepted. Bob's non-judgmental ways and steady presence as a father figure left an impact on every young person that hung out at the Snow's. He treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchild. In his retirement years, Roxann and Bob lived in Hawaii, next door to their son and his family in the winter, and Vashon in the summer.
His hobbies included skydiving, camping, road trips (always taking the path less traveled), crossword puzzles, sudoku, yard work, projects and spending time with family. In his retirement years, he always looked forward to his weekly morning coffee with his friends at Minglement.
Bob was a wise and moral person. He modeled kindness, acceptance, calm, and love in everything he did. A gentle soul that would listen endlessly to others. When you got him talking it always led to deep and interesting conversations. Bob would likely not have any inkling of the HUGE impact he had on this world, for that would never have been a focus. We are forever changed and grateful for this man.
He is survived by his wife, Roxann, son, Brett, daughter, Desi (Brian), grandchildren, Chad (Alyssa), Annika (Rodeo), Caroline, Julia, and great-grandchild, Vai, his siblings, Joseph (Judy), Cary(Paula), Clare(Richard), Gretchen (Gerald), Sarah, and James (Andrea), mother-in-law, Rose, brother-in-law, BJ (Cece), Sisters-in-law, Jeri (Scott), and Carolyn (Tim). Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Bob Badda, brother-in-law, Dale Champoli, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, beloved godmother, Sarah Snow Carlson and great-granddaughter, Aurora Hope.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Snow Residence on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11:00am followed by lunch. Dress is colorful and casual. The pool will be ready for swimming in the afternoon.
