Bob Stuart

Robert Weymond Stuart, known as Bob, a man whose life was defined by love, faith, and service, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on February 8, 2025. Born on October 12, 1946, in Marshall, Texas, Bob was the son of Louis Bell Stuart and Willie Verna Golden. He leaves behind a legacy of friendship, devotion, and kindness that touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Lynn Howard Stuart, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of marriage, having been united on February 22, 1992. He was a devoted father to Denise Alexander (David), Amy Helm (Chris), Reagan (Oshadi), and Luke. Bob cherished his role as grandfather to Austin Alexander (Amber), Mason Alexander (Kaylyn), and Madison Helm, and was anticipating the arrival of his granddaughter, Margot Stuart, due in April. He was blessed by three great-grandchildren, Remington, Archer, and Reed.
He is also survived by his sister, Lynda Susan "Susie" Hornsby and husband, Tommy Hornsby and nephew, Rick Whiteley and family and great nephew, Cody Whiteley.
In his professional life, Bob's passion for ministry and helping others shone brightly. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1975, followed by a Master of Divinity from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978. He completed his Doctor of Ministry at New Orleans Theological Seminary in 1984.
Bob served on the staffs of Carrollton First Baptist Church and Dallas First Baptist Church, and later as the Pastor of Preston Highlands Baptist Church. He led a Sunday School class at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock, where he made many good friends and deeply impacted the lives of those who attended. His leadership, wisdom, and kindness were cherished by all who knew him.
Bob had a distinguished career as a development consultant, including work with Lubbock Christian High School, All Saints Episcopal School, and the Texas Boys Ranch, among many others. His professional expertise helped these organizations secure a bright future.
He loved supporting his children in all their endeavors, including watching his daughters play soccer and his sons play basketball, always cheering them on and celebrating their successes.
Bob also had a deep affection for his pets, including his dogs Skippy Lee, Cricket, DD, Laci, and Billy, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
In the last five years of his life, Bob and Lisa made Fredericksburg, Texas their home. There, Bob met many new friends and received help and support from a wonderful community. His time in Fredericksburg was filled with connection, joy, and gratitude as he forged meaningful relationships that further enriched his life.
Known for his friendly personality and sense of humor, Bob had a special ability to make others feel valued and make them laugh. To know him was to love him, and his warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Bob's memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, faith, and love will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
