Bob Summers, 81, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at St. Rose of Lima Church, Cuba City, Wisconsin with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-7:00 p.m. Monday, June 2 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Bob was born on March 22, 1944, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Bill and Opal (Gunn) Summers. Bob moved to Cuba City in his sophomore year of high school. It was there that he met Ruth Ann McWilliams, who would become his wife and partner for 61 years.

Bob spent his life rooted in the Cuba City community, where his passion was teaching and coaching for more than 57 years. He was especially known for teaching driver’s education. His students spanned three generations. He taught his final class the day he entered the hospital.

Bob loved sports and competition. He lived a connected and grounded life, focused on his family and his work. His greatest joy was time spent with Ruth Ann, their four children - Tim (Kelly), Joan (Kevin), John (Kelli), and Mary (Kevin) - their 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor, hard work and showing up every day, year after year, for his family and students.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Summers; two daughters, Joan (Kevin) Fischer and Mary (Kevin) Kern; two sons, Tim (Kelly) Summers and John (Kelli) Summers; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathy (Jim) Bussan; and a brother, Bill Summers.

In lieu of flowers, an annual Bob Summers Scholarship Fund is being established to support a Cuba City High School graduating senior entering the teaching profession. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque for their excellent care and support.
