Robert Williams, 84, of Grinnell died on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell.
A private family burial will be held at Massillon Cemetery near Lowden, Iowa.
Memorials may be designated to the Mayflower Community Human Needs Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Robert Rex Williams was born the son of Rex Elvin Williams and Mildred Jenny Burdick (Rosenberg) Williams on September 7, 1939 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was raised in Lacey, Iowa and he attended Lacey High School and later North Mahaska High School. He graduated from Parson College in Fairfield, Iowa in 1961.
Bob was united in marriage to Janet Mowry on June 13, 1964 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Wheatland, Iowa. Robert was a minister for over 55 years at several UCC churches in Iowa, including: Reinbeck, Central City, Exira, Anita, Dubuque, Allison, Jewel, and Gilman. He retired from ministry in 2017 and they moved to the Mayflower Community in Grinnell. He was a longtime volunteer at Living History Farms in Des Moines. Bob will be remembered for being witty, happy, full of love, and for being a servant of the Lord.
Robert is survived by his brothers-in-law, Clark (Jean) Mowry of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Larry Wright of Naperville, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janet in 2020.
