Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Bobbie Lee Ates Evans will be 10:00 AM Wednesday November 8, 2023, at Paron Baptist Church in Sterlington, LA with Rev. Matt Coker officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. Urania Cemetery in Urania, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe.
Bobbie Lee Ates Evans devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend entered into the presence of our Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 4, 2023. She was 93 years old. Bobbie loved life, loved people, dearly loved her family and intentionally lived her faith in Jesus Christ with an outpouring of love and hospitality to all who crossed her path.
Bobbie was born in Urania, LA, on July 23, 1930, to Henry and Eva Ates. She was a lifelong member of Paron Baptist Church. She married her beloved Delbert “Doodle” Evans on January 12, 1948. Bobbie and Doodle had two children: Jesse “Butch” and Eddie Evans. She truly adored them both more than life itself. Bobbie's sincere love for family and friends extended to her community with great love. She was known for giving the best hugs, and everyone could count on her being a faithful and devoted prayer warrior. She prayed daily for every member of her family.
Bobbie always greeted others with a warm twinkle in her eyes, the best hug, and a benevolent smile. Her love for others left a lasting effect on all she encountered. She cherished her family and extended family and desired for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren to stay close and love each other always.
Her soul sparkled by finding a blessing each day, her faith and ability to have a grateful heart no matter the circumstance. Bobbie's love of life, family, friends and community has been a blessing to us all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Eva Ates; her husband, Delbert “Doodle’ Evans; her son, Eddie Evans; her daughter-in-law, Kristy Evans; her sisters, Gwendolyn “Shorty” Smith, Lottie “Jo” Fife; brothers, Vernie Ates, and Bud Ates.
Survivors include her sister, Gwile Cox and husband, Billy; son, Jesse “Butch” Evans and wife Jackie; grandchildren, Jennifer Evans Sturdivant and husband Chris, Olivia Evans Jones and husband David, Joshua Evans and wife Jenn, and Jessica Smith and husband Mike; and great-grandchildren, Loralee, Jackson, and Tucker Sturdivant, Nathanial and Brighton Jones, Joleigh and Landrie Evans, Caroline and Kate Smith, Sage Pipes and husband Hank and Abbi Hanks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Evans, Chris Sturdivant, David Jones, Jackson Sturdivant, Nathan Jones and Tucker Sturdivant.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Morgan and Ella with Premier Hospice.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or Paron Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Paron Baptist Church.
