With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bobbie Lou Jones, a beloved mother, talented musician, and cherished member of the Jackson community. Born on September 2, 1950, Bobbie's warmth and infectious spirit illuminated the lives of those around her. She departed this world on September 10, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving a legacy of love, gratitude, and unwavering faith.
Bobbie dedicated her life to her family and her community. As a proud member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, she shared her beautiful gift of music, offering piano lessons and gracing the congregation with her melodies that resonated deeply in the souls of many. Her passion for music was only rivaled by her advocacy for others; in the 1980s, she became a prominent voice for Handicap Parking spaces, ensuring greater accessibility for those in need.
Professionally, Bobbie played vital roles as a dispatcher for the Jackson Police Department and in the family business, Criswell Construction. Her remarkable work ethic and generous nature endeared her to everyone she met. She possessed an amazing attitude, always smiling, and never uttering a complaint, finding joy in every moment. Bobbie's presence was like a soft light, filling any room with warmth and kindness.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mary Lou Criswell and husband, James "Dooley" Jones.
She is survived by her children, Brent Jones (Darline) and Wendy Jones; grandchildren, Lauren Jones, Ashleigh Lee (Tyler), Brittany Majors (Kasey), William "Tyler" Spence (Serena), and Raygan Speance; 8 great grandchildren, siblings, Freddie Criswell, Ronald Criswell (Sandy), and Becky Criswell (Vince); caregivers, Nan Strickland and the staff of Jackson Healthcare; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends who will carry her spirit in their hearts and memories.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at Evergreen Baptist Church on September 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM, preceded by a public visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Bobbie are invited to come together to celebrate her life and share cherished memories.
As we remember Bobbie Lou Jones, let us carry forward her legacy of love, light, and unwavering faith in the Lord. Her remarkable spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
