Bobby Anders, a resident of London, Kentucky, passed away at the age of 84 on Friday, April 26, 2024. He was a dedicated farmer, mechanic, and veteran of the US Army, known for his unwavering commitment to his community and faith.
He leaves behind four children, Albert Anders & wife Carol of Keavy, KY, Vickie Burns of London, KY, Tim Anders of London, KY, Paige Sudhoff & husband Mike of Maryville, TN; one brother, Charles Anders & wife Freda of Indiana; five grandchildren, Alex, Seth & Todd Anders, Zachary & Sarah Burns; five great grandchildren, Gracie Burns, Hannah Kennedy, Mia Anders, Audrey Anders, Maverick Anders; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years and the mother of his children, Athalene Anders; his second wife, Wilma Price Anders; his parents, Richard H. and Melda Cassidy Anders; three siblings, Bill Anders of Keavy, KY, Jack Anders of Lexington, KY and Joyce Anders, his baby sister.
Bobby's life was characterized by service and devotion. As a farmer and mechanic, he brought diligence and skill to his work, nurturing the land and fixing machinery with a deep sense of pride and purpose. His time in the US Army exemplified his patriotism and sense of duty to his country.
A pillar of Blackwater United Baptist Church, Bobby demonstrated his faith through a lifetime of service. He served as a deacon, church bus driver, Sunday school superintendent, teacher, and construction superintendent of the church building and fellowship hall. His leadership and dedication were instrumental in shaping the spiritual community of Blackwater United Baptist Church.
Outside of his church, Bobby remained committed to serving others through the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), where he found fulfillment in assisting fellow veterans and their families. He further served his community as a hospice volunteer for 10 years, a current board member of the Woods Creek Water District, and he was one of the founding members of the Campground Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid fan of basketball, especially the UK Wildcats.
Bobby loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly, and leaves behind cherished memories with his family, friends, and community, who will forever remember his kindness, integrity, and unwavering faith.
Funeral services for Bobby Anders will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Terry Gabbard and Marty Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Blackwater, Kentucky. Military honors will be provided by the local DAV Chapter 158 of Keavy, Kentucky. Honorary pallbearers will be the Blackwater United Baptist Church Deacons and their wives, as well as the DAV Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2024 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
