Robert “Bobby” Wayne Bishop, 68, beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his devoted family.
Bobby was born on December 10, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida where his father was stationed in the Navy, to Barbara Rochelle Bishop and the late Ronald Bishop. Most of his early life he lived in Dickson, TN. He later moved to Columbia, TN to begin his 10th grade year. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1975 and then graduated from Lipscomb University in 1980.
Bobby worked at General Electric for 10 years. Then he became the former owner and operator of Southern Home Accents and Furnishings in Columbia. He finished his career working his lifelong passion as Mr. B’s Home Improvements, as an electrician and plumber, providing general home improvements until his retirement in 2020. He improved and remodeled multiple homes for his family and clients leaving a legacy of memories of his fine quality workmanship.
He was a deacon in charge of buildings and grounds at Graymere Church of Christ for 30 plus years. He enjoyed leading singing, teaching singing classes and assisting with numerous maintenance and improvement projects on the church campus. He chaperoned multiple mission trips and youth group activities.
Bobby’s hobbies included spending time with his family and friends and especially his six grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball games with his son and grandchildren. Loved playing golf, tennis, horseshoes and volleyball with his lifelong friends. Always enjoyed going to church singings, fishing, spending family time on Tim’s Ford Lake, and riding his Harley. A delight in his life was teaching his grandchildren new things and loving his forever best friend and wife for 50 plus years. Extremely proud of raising his three wonderful children and six grandchildren.
Most importantly, trusting God will always provide a way for those that love the Lord! In this life we face tribulation, but we put our trust in our Heavenly Father who has given us victory over death. We ask for your prayers and grace during this time as we grieve this immeasurable loss.
Survivors include his wife Susan Maxedon Bishop whom he married on July 25, 1981; mother Barbara “Meme” Rochelle Bishop; children, Joshua Thomas Bishop (Kara), Amy Elizabeth Neff (Daniel), and Anna Rae Ault (Ryan); sister Becky Osborne; brother Billy (Brenda) Bishop; grandchildren, Cali Elizabeth Bishop, Tucker Daniel Neff, Parker Thomas Neff, Timothy Cruz Bishop, Ruth Ann Ault, and Rosie Rae Ault; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and precious lifelong friends.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Bishop, Billy Bishop, Daniel Neff, Ryan Ault, Don Maxedon and Brian Maxedon.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Graymere Church of Christ with Ronnie Norman, Henry Webster, and John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of the services at Graymere Church of Christ.
