Bob Bloss, age 85, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Independence Manor in Independence.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Rex Leppin officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner at a later date. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Bobby DeWayne, son of Earnest Riley and Maggie Mae (Bayte) Bloss, was born July 23, 1938, in Sumner, Missouri. On May 24, 1958, he married Elizabeth JoAnn Cheek. Bob began his career at Admiral in Galesburg, Illinois and then served as Assistant Manager at 40&7 United Super in Blue Springs, Missouri. After the closing of the store, Bob worked as a custodian for the Blue Springs School District until his retirement.
Bob enjoyed duck hunting, camping, road trips and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with his family and his beautiful bride of 66 years.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth JoAnn Bloss of the home; one son, Billy DeWayne Bloss; two daughters, Elizabeth Annette Horner and Brenda Kay Lester; eight grandchildren, Andrew Horner, Jeff Horner, TJ Horner, Kaci Bennett, Richard Meneses, Govanna Meneses, Jessica Workman and Jacob Lester; nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Vee Horner, Avery Horner, Ari Horner, Bubba, Oaklan Bennett, Nash Bennett, Ines Conejo, Rodrigo Gutierrez and Nellie Meneses; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Riley and Maggie Mae Bloss; and siblings, Bernard Bloss, Carol Brock, Ethel Douglas, John Bloss, Billy Bloss, Son Bloss and baby Bloss.
