Darlene I. Bloss

Darlene I. Bloss, 87, residing at Heritage Park, previously Bergquist Memorial, Gerry, and formerly of Falconer was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday (December 3, 2025). Darlene was born May 27, 1938 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Charlotte G. Francis Custer. She was a 1956 graduate of Falconer High School and Jamestown Business College. For a short time, she was employed by the former Grants Department Store. For most of Darlene's life she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. Throughout her life in Falconer, she lovingly provided childcare and eldercare service to family, friends and neighbors. She will be remembered by family as a faithful Christian whose selfless nature set a beautiful example, an anchor for their lives. She was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and was a soloist for local Christian radio programs as well as church services. While at Heritage Park she loved time spent searching through a hymnal for familiar hymns to sing while sight-reading those she did not know. She enjoyed gardening, growing roses, baking (eating) cookies and making fudge. The front porch of the family home was often frequented by munching teens while the Bloss kids were at home. Surviving are three daughters: Jacqueline A. Shannon and her husband Brian of Jamestown, Jill E. Webb and her husband Ray of Newport, NC, Gisele R. Moses and her husband Warren of Thurmont, Maryland, and a son-in-law Keith Nelson of Falconer. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Amanda (Nicholas) Prugar, Zachary (Victoria) Webb, Daniel (Nicole) Nelson, Carlie Shannon, Elizabeth (Connor) Carter; nine great grandchildren: Aurora Grace Prugar, Diondre Prugar, Noah Nelson, Hannah Nelson, Charlotte Webb, Amelia Webb, Isaac Webb, Sofia Webb, Kenneth Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn E. Bloss Jr., whom she married October 5, 1957 in the First Baptist Church of Falconer, who died July 7, 2020; her daughter Glenda D. Nelson on August 30, 2023, and two sisters: Cynthia Courtney and Jacqueline Nelson. A private funeral service will be held in the Falconer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. Visitation will be private. Memorial contributions may be donated to Hospice House or Heritage Park resident council fund.
