Bobby Ray Curtis
BOBBY RAY CURTIS, 92, of Greensboro, N.C., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
A native of Warwick County, Va. (now Newport News), he was born November 26, 1933, to the late Rosa Virginia Hogge and Frank Lee Curtis.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Paige, and a sister, Jean Curtis Stebbins.
Bobby graduated from Warwick High School in Newport News in 1952 and afterward served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1957, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon discharge, he entered the University of Richmond, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1960. He began working as a staff accountant in the Richmond office of A. M. Pullen & Co., CPAs (later RSM McGladrey), where he met his future wife, Marcia Ann Bryan.
He received his CPA certificate after his first two years at Pullen and became a partner in 1970. He was transferred to the firm's headquarters in Greensboro in 1974 as Assistant Partner-in-Charge, and later became Partner-in-Charge. After 27 years, he retired from the firm in 1987 to work as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary for Industrial Air, Inc, and later as Financial Accountant and Trustee for the owner's estate until his retirement in 2016 after 29 years with IA, Inc.
For more than 30 years, he was a devoted member of Alamance Presbyterian Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Elder, Chairman of the Worship, Stewardship and Finance committees, middle school Sunday School teacher, President of the Men of the Church and President of the church corporation. He was a past member of the Downtown Greensboro Kiwanis Club and served a term as President and served on the Board of Directors of the Presbyterian Home.
He also served many years on the Greensboro Board of BB&T (now Truist), and for 16 years served as Secretary of the Alamance Volunteer Fire Department Board. For a brief time, he was a faithful and active member of First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, where he served on the Discipleship and Communion committees, and was a loyal member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.
From the time he was an infant on the Cradle Roll at Denbigh Baptist Church, where he attended throughout his youth and where he gave his life to the Lord, until the day of his death, he lived his life as a devout follower of Jesus Christ.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marcia; son, Bryan Lee (Norma Carchetti), and daughter, Tracey Curtis Keaton (Mike), all of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren, Michael Curtis of Puerto Rico, David Curtis (Savannah) of Columbia, S.C., Erin Elizabeth Curtis and William Medley, both of Raleigh, Andrew Medley (Lauren) of Clayton, N.C., Rachel Keaton Espe (Eric) and Heather Keaton all of Greensboro, Tyler Keaton of Columbia, S.C., Lizzie Swann of Fredericksburg, Va., Luke Swann of Lynchburg, Va., and Ginny Swann of Lottsburg, Va.; son, Robert Sheets of Palmyra, Va., and nephew Jack Stebbins of South Hill, Va.
Bobby enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, woodworking, reading, gardening, keeping up his farm, and spending time with his family. He was a man of discipline, integrity, honesty, fidelity, fairness, and one who had a true sense of loyalty to family and to all who knew him.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 10, 1:30 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, 1118 N. Elm St, Greensboro NC 27401, with the Service to follow at 3 p.m.. Private family interment.
