Bobby Gilbert Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 23, 2025.
Bobby Lee Gilbert, 87, of North Richland Hills, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. We take comfort and peace knowing the Lord welcomed him as a good and faithful servant.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2025 in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2025 in Mount Olivet's Breyley Room.
Bobby's legacy is one of service to the Lord and devotion to family. Bobby and his loving wife were married for 64 cherished years. Bobby was a member of Birdville Baptist Church for over five decades, he was ordained as a Deacon at the early age of 26.
His professional journey began in the fast-evolving world of computer services, where he dedicated the last 20 years of his career to Bell Helicopter, as a Computer Systems Analyst. Bobby and Bernice were blessed with two children, Laura Harshbarger and Gary Gilbert, as well as numerous grandkids and great-grandkids who had the pleasure of witnessing what a Christlike marriage should be.
Their family roots were initially planted in Haltom City, where they resided until 1974. After a four-year detour to Waco, the couple returned to North Richland Hills in 1978, where they created a warm and loving home. Bobby embraced adventure, traveling extensively to all fifty states, Canada, and the Caribbean, making countless memories with his wife, family, and friends.
An avid classic car enthusiast, Bobby took great pride in his collection, which included an award-winning 1929 Model A and a meticulously cared-for 1980 Shay (Model A replica). He was an active member of the Fort Worth Model A Club. He often spent his weekends in the company of fellow car lovers at local car shows, sharing stories and showcasing his prized vehicles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hollis and Doshia Jane Gilbert; and his brothers, Hollis Ray and Joe.
Bobby is survived by his devoted wife, Bernice Hooper Gilbert; daughter, Laura Harshbarger and husband, James; son, Gary Gilbert and wife, Karol; grandchildren, Ryan Gilbert and wife, Maggie, Amanda Alvarado and husband, Ricky and Hannah Gilbert; and cherished great-grandchildren, Cooper, Eleanor, Olivia and Carter.

Bernice, we are so very sorry to hear about the loss of Bobby. You were both such special people to Randy and me. Mission trips with you and Bobby were some of Randy´s highlights. I cherish the memories. You were role models of what a marriage should be as well as how to walk the Christian walk. Prayers for you and your family sweet lady.
