He attended Temple schools and later received training at the Job Corps. His disability created hardship which, he overcame to earn additional income through lawn service and helping carpenters.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior and became a member at the Church of the Living God.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robbie Lee Mitchell and Albert Mitchell and one brother, William Mitchell.
Survivors are three brothers, Albert Mitchell, James (Buddy) Mitchell both of Temple, Texas, and Danny Mitchell of Bolivia, North Carolina; two sisters, Sherley Mitchell Jackson of Temple, Texas and Theresa Mitchell of Cedar Hill, Texas.
