Mr. Bobby Lewis Philpot, Sr., 80, of Hiram, Georgia passed on February 16, 2023.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Mars Hill Baptist Church, 74 Mars Hill Church Path, Dallas, Georgia 30157. The body will lie in state from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. Please keep the Philpot family in your thoughts and prayers.
Mr. Bobby Lewis Philpot, Sr., age 80, was born on October 1, 1942 in Dallas, Georgia. He was the first-born son of the late Kate Woodard and Fletcher Philpot and was one of 12 children born to their union. Bobby was educated in the Paulding County School System, where he enjoyed playing baseball and running track.
Bobby accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He studied the word and grew in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. He also served as a Deacon, member of the Mass Choir and Male Chorus, and was the Choir President of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnny McBurrows. He loved to praise God.
Some of Bobby's past time enjoyments were fishing, traveling, playing the guitar, singing, making wood vine canes, and working on automobiles. He also loved sharing his wisdom with all who would seek it. He would let you know that no one is perfect, yet everyone needs to be forgiven for their souls, as well as your own. Bobby gained his wisdom from his walks in life and shared his ups and downs to show that it was ok to be vulnerable to the people you love. The wisdom he shared allowed one to know life is not always going to be easy, but your main task on earth is to stay humble and keep pushing, no matter what. Most of all, Bobby loved helping his family and friends. A little funny fact about him was his sweet tooth; indulging and delighting in all types of cookies and midnight semi melted ice cream breaks with Frosted Flakes. He was known as the "Ice Cream Bandit".
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Philpot; and granddaughter, Neshea Griggs.
He leaves to cherish his fondest memories, his loving wife, D. Ann Austin Philpot; children, Shewanna Rhodes, Kimberly (Curtis) Bryant, Bridget (Reginald) Stafford, Nicole Jackson, Bobby (Tiffany) Philpot, Jr., Trenina Jones, Samantha (Sam) Taylor, Torry Wright, Kesha (Christ Ogden) Austin, and Tierre Austin; siblings, Rebecca Price, Marie (Samuel) Williams, Sarah Philpot, Harvey (Sandra) Philpot, Diane (Terry) Stafford, Dottie King, Catherine (Mark) Jones, and Ricky Philpot; brothers-in-law, Reverend Eddie (Leslie) Walter and William Austin; twenty-five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.
