Bobby "Ponytail" Prejean

A Time of Remembrance will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA for Bobby 'Ponytail' Prejean, 69, who passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.

Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Bobby Prejean, affectionately known as Ponytail, was born April 20, 1956, in Church Point, LA and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He grew up in Cankton, LA, where he spent his early years before attending Acadiana High School.

Bobby spent his working years as a skilled carpenter in the construction industry, a trade he took great pride in until the day he retired. He poured the same dedication into his community, where he was an active presence and a proud member of the Native Sons Motorcycle Club of Lafayette. Away from work, Bobby was an avid pool player who loved the friendly competition and camaraderie it brought. Some of his happiest moments were with his grandchildren, bringing them candy, pulling them close, tickling them until they erupted in laughter and creating memories they still cherish. Above all, Bobby was known for his warm spirit and his gift for having a good time. Family meant everything to Bobby; he leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.

Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Sharon "Sheri" D. Prejean, of Carencro, LA; his 4 daughters, Karen Prejean Studt and her companion, Frank Wood, of Cankton, LA, Stacey Prejean Pereida and her husband, D.J., of Scott, LA, Heather Call and her husband, Ryan, of Breaux Bridge, LA, Hailey Elise Venable and her companion, Gavin Dogie; his brother, Dale "Lop" Prejean; his sister, Ruby M. Comeaux and her husband, Carl; his nine grandchildren, Devin and his wife, Amber, Michael, Natalie, Peyton, Talyn, Brantley, Cameron, Renan and Luna; his two great grandchildren, Aubree and Brooks; his two god-children, Joseph and Chase, and numerous dear family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Joseph and Berdie "Marie" Broussard Prejean and his son-in-law, Larry Studt.

The family wishes to thank, his cardiologist, Dr. Jeffery Chen of Lafayette, LA, and the staff of Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, especially the 7th floor ICU for the compassionate care given to Bobby and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bobby's name to his family.
