Bobby Hayes Rountree

Bobby H. Rountree, 82 of Suffolk, VA, went to his heavenly home on June 17, 2024. He was the son of the late Gerald and Edith Rountree. He is also predeceased by his siblings, Kirkman Rountree, Earl Rountree, James Rountree, Wilbur Rountree, Geraldine Rountree, and Eunice Whitley; and nephew, Brian Keith Rountree.
Bobby was a loving husband, father and Pops to those he loved most. He spent his life as a farmer. He grew up working the fields beside his father. At the age of 19, he took over his family's farm business and was later joined by his brother, Wilbur. In 2005, Bobby "retired" and partnered with John Crumpler with whom he farmed until April of this year. He was a lifetime member of Holy Neck Christian Church, a prior member of the Holland Ruritan Club, and a current member of the Holy Neck Ruritan Club. He was a faithful servant to his community and loved by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Nancy; daughters, Judy Pearson (Brian), and Kim O'Brien (Vince); granddaughters, Sydnee Pearson, Kyleigh O'Brien, and Keaghan O'Brien; sister-in-law, Shirley Rountree; and numerous nieces and nephews; his special friend David Boykins, and many, many other friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Holy Neck Christian Church officiated by Rev. Michael Halley and Rev. Timothy W. Rawls. A visitation will take place from 6-7:30 PM Friday, June 21, 2024 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Downtown Suffolk Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Neck Christian Church Building Fund, 4400 Holy Neck Rd, Suffolk, VA 23437.
