Mr. Bobby “Good Times” Gerald Sechrist, 80, formerly of Lexington, NC, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 22, 2025, at his residence in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was born January 28, 1945, in Davidson County, North Carolina to the late, David Franklin Sechrist and Era Corena Hughes Sechrist. Bobby worked as a truck driver for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Thomasville for 22 years and later retired from Billings Trucking after 21 loyal years. Driving was his passion and he was fortunate to see a large portion of the country throughout his career. He attended Kingdom Vision Ministries in Thomasville when he was in town. Bobby loved motorcycles and riding with his friends on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He also enjoyed going to the beach and after moving to Florida in 2024, was able to make several trips with his daughter to enjoy the coast. Bobby absolutely loved McDonald’s and ate there very often. He enjoyed his daily smokes and hanging out with his Grand-Dog Sophie and he also had a host of cats to keep him company. Bobby will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him, especially all the friends who referred to him as “Good Times.”
In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Hipp Sechrist, after enjoying only 4 years together; two brothers, Buck Sechrist and Tommy Sechrist; and his sister Leona Sechrist Murphy.
Bobby is survived by his daughter Reida Krieger and husband David of Fort Pierce, Florida; a grandson, Kasey George and his wife Heather; a great-grandson, Oliver Reid George; several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and close friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, North Carolina, with Pastor Randy Parris officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Thomasville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Davidson County Animal Shelter.
