Funeral services for Bobby Stephens, Sr., 69, of Larue, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Tommie Hilton officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Stephens passed away on October 31, 2025, in Larue.
Bobby Gene Stephens, Sr. was born on May 29, 1956, in Galveston, Texas, the son of Carl Dolphus Stephens and Ida Bell (Cook) Stephens. He graduated from Crosby High School in 1974 and later retired from the City of Athens after serving as a superintendent for 23 years. Bobby was a member of the Athens Masonic Lodge #165. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly working with his John Deere tractor, fixing anything broken on the property, haying, and taking care of the cattle. Bobby loved playing electric dartboards with his family and, more recently, building model cars with his wife. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joshua Henson; and by his sister, Clara Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Stephens of Larue; his children, Crystal Stephens of Athens and Bobby Stephens and wife Jessica of Winnsboro; his siblings, Wayne Stephens and wife Rose of Conroe and Delores Winkle and Clyde Folmar of Winnsboro; his grandchildren, Constance Kiser, DeMarcus Kiser, II, Trenton Hardy, and Rylee Stephens; his brothers-in-law, Eddie Alexander and wife Ellie and John Scott Crawford; his sisters-in-law, Rosie Wheeler and husband Jim and Beth Wimberly and husband Wylie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Scott Crawford, Jim Wheeler, Wylie Wimberly, Trenton Hardy, DeMarcus Kiser, II, and Clay Martin.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Enhabit Hospice.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
