Bobbye Hooks Zeigler

Bobbye Hooks Zeiger, a beloved mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She will be remembered for her generous heart, adventurous spirit, deep love of family, and service to her country. She found her greatest joy in life's simple pleasures-tending to her garden and cooking homemade meals that filled the house with warmth and love. She never met a stranger, and had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed in her home. Her zest for life inspired all who knew her to truly "live, laugh, and love." Her passing leaves an emptiness that will never be filled, but her love will remain with us always.
She was born on April 30, 1947, in Braxton, Mississippi, to Lormer Longino Hooks and Inez Mullins as the fourth of their five children.
She enjoyed a distinguished career in the FBI; the U.S. Secret Service; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
She was a survivor in every sense of the word, overcoming cancer at a young age and recovering from losing her home in Hurricane Katrina. Guided by faith and curiosity, she embraced every opportunity to experience the world. From mission trips to Africa to months spent alongside her daughter and son-in-law serving on diplomatic assignments in New York; Washington, DC; Mexico; and India; she poured her heart into connecting with people from all walks of life and left a legacy that crossed borders.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Zeiger Kephart (Jason); her son Paul William Zeiger, her granddaughters Gracie, Adalay, and Elizabeth; and her sisters Shirley Grubbs, Joanne Lee, and June Allen. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy D. Hooks.
In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service for family will be held at Gum Springs Baptist Church cemetery located at 436 Gum Springs Road, Braxton on October 29 at 11 am. The family welcomes flowers as a symbol of love and remembrance.
