Bohdan Tkaczyk, 68, of Galloway passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at his home.
Born in Queens, NY, Bohdan was a longtime resident of Carteret until retiring in Galloway 12 years ago after working at ShopRite of Carteret for 41 years. In addition to spending time with his family, Bohdan enjoyed music, fishing, classic cars and playing on his computer, but he was most proud to be a "Papa" to his granddaughter, Cassidy. Everyone who knew him recognized and loved his unique brand of humor that was distinctly his own. He was a loving and cherished husband, father, grandfather son and brother who will be deeply missed.
Bohdan was predeceased by his father, Stephen Tkaczyk. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Doris Tkaczyk; children, Larissa Cruz with her husband Angel, Amy Bodnar with her husband Garrett and Sara Tkaczyk; mother, Jaroslawa Tkaczyk; granddaughter, Cassidy Bodnar; brother, Taras Tkaczyk along with many beloved extended family members. Bohdan is now reunited with his best bud, his beagle, Jake.
Funeral services will begin at 9am on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Parastas will begin at 7pm.
