Bonita Josephine Bucklew

Bonita Josephine Bucklew, 88 of Stephenson, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, peacefully at home.
Jo was born in 1936 in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of the late Chester and Eileen Bolyard. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School. Jo retired after 21 years, working as a secretary in the administration office for Frederick County Public Schools. She was a member and very involved at Wesley United Methodist Church. Jo enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafting and most of all, spending time with her family.
She married Raymond L. Bucklew on April 9, 1955, at Sabra United Methodist Church in Morgantown, WV. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2013.
Jo is survived by her children, Raymond Douglas Bucklew (Karen), Peggy Bucklew Hodgson (Rodney), and Deborah Bucklew McKee (Tim); grandchildren, Bradford Allen Hodgson (Chris), Jennifer Hodgson Spitzer (Jeremy) and Emily Lane Bucklew; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Rae Spitzer, Camden Marquess, Chase Parker Mantz, Benny Wayne Marquess, Emersyn Jean Mantz and Ellie James Mantz; sister, Linda Bolyard Queen, and sister-in-law, Carla Slyder Bolyard.
Along with her parents and husband, Jo is preceded by her brother, Richard "Dick" Bolyard and brother-in-law, Louis L. Queen.
A visitation will be held for Jo on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12:30pm with a service to be conducted at 1:30pm, all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be private. Pastor Alan Morrison will officiate.
