Bonita Alice "Tunk" Pulse, 95, of Glendive, Montana, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux, Montana. She is now joined with her love, Don, and many family members and friends for eternity. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Monday, October 27, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in Dawson Memorial Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with arrangements.
Tunk was born in Camp Crook, SD to Victor and Charm Waterland. She attended primary school at the Waterland School in Capital, MT., joined by her siblings, Victor, Paul, Delores, and Charles "Swede" and her Waterland cousins from the adjoining ranch. This deep bond of love and family forged during the depression years remained her touchstone throughout her life.
Don and Tunk met at the county fair in Ekalaka while she was attending high school in Ekalaka. They were married in 1948 and began a lifelong journey together for 72 years.
They welcomed daughter, LaTisha in 1950 and moved to Glendive where Dad started barbering in 1951. Son Dake was born in 1952. They made Glendive their home over all those years. Supporting all youth sporting events, Lions Club activities, attending church dinners of all denominations. They loved their community. Wherever they lived in town their home was always a welcoming place for family and friends.
Mom's cooking was always a favorite and she made sure she served everyone's favorite dish. She put her talents to work when she went to work in Food Service at Eastmont in 1967. She retired in 1992 after 25 years of faithful service and cherished her friendships developed there and had fond memories of the residents.
Mom and Dad enjoyed their years of retirement fishing as often as they wanted to at McGuire Creek. They enjoyed going out on their boat and playing countless games of rummy in their camper. Mom was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed singing in the choir during her later years.
Nothing gave Mom more joy than welcoming a new grandchild. She would arrive as soon as possible to shower them with love. Her love of family drove her to organize many family reunions-several held at the Lions Camp in Makoshika.
Mom is survived by daughter, LaTisha Starbuck and her children Kimberly Nelson (Scott), Brian Bohl (Krystal), Michelle Lyster( Cody), and Meagan Pierson (Paul); son, Dake Pulse (Irina) and his children Gabrial Pulse, Alex Tsomaya (Maria), and Victor Pulse (Nichole); fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don; sons-in-law, Stewart and Gene; and all of her siblings.
Whenever our family is gathered around a table, fishing on a lake, or attending a baseball game we will feel the circle of love provided by Dad and Mom.
Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.SilhaFuneralHomes.com.
